Meet the Secretariat

Ben Dinsdale Secretary-General Meet Ben, your Secretary-General for QMUNi 2019. Ben has been involved with QMUNi since his first year at Queen's. Starting off as a Page in the 7-Year's War Comittee he worked his way to head chair for the next two conferences before entering his role as SG this year. Hailing from Toronto, ON Ben is so excited to see all of the delegates in this year's conference participating in the fantastic GAs, SAs, and Crises that the QMUNi team has put together. He's especially excited to see how the delegates take on the major challenges they will have to face in some of the GAs and SAs, and how they will embrace their roles in crises. Always happy to talk politics, sports, music, or this year's QMUNi, don't hesitate to pull Ben aside if you see him walking through the halls of the JDUC in November!

Megan Fanjoy Director General Meet Megan! For the past six years, Megan has been involved with MUN as a delegate, page, Chair for QMUNi 2018 and now she is humbled to be the Director General for QMUNi 2019. Megan is a second-year Politics, Philosophy and Economics major, and completing the Business Certificate. When she isn’t listening to feminist-based podcasts or scrolling through dog memes, you can find Megan drinking her favorite coffee at Cogro (which she now works at, mostly for the free coffee). Whether she’s laughing with her fellow Secretariat members or going to hot yoga with friends, you can always ensure that puts her heart is everything that she does; which is truly what she has demonstrated on the Secretariat this year. Make sure to say hello to her as she’s running through the halls in the fall!

Philippe Haddad Under Secretary-General Say hello to Philippe (known to many as Phil), Undersecretary- General for QMUNi 2019! Born and raised in Toronto, with a brief stint in Halifax, Philippe is currently majoring in History while both minoring in Political Studies and completing a certificate in Law. Following his time at Queen’s, Philippe hopes to pursue an education in law, one day aspiring to represent Canada internationally to the country of Lebanon, his ancestral homeland. On the way there, he hopes to finally develop a decent stand-up routine while continuing to perform in the Queen’s rugby program as he has so far. A firm believer in cultural enrichment and self-education, Philippe continues to try and see the world as best as he can, notably geeking out super hard on a tour of the ruins of Baalbek in the Beqaa Valley to the point of heatstroke. No matter where you might find him, Philippe always stands ready to deliver some combination of terrible dad jokes, a proud introduction to his own Squirrel-Watching Club, outdated references, historical rants on Phoenician influence on Mediterranean trade, and generally trying to make everyone feel at home during the 2019 Queen’s Model United Nations Invitational.

Annie Pawlil Co-Director of Events Meet Annie, one of the two Directors of Events for QMUNi 2019! Annie is from Toronto and is currently in her second year of Commerce. She loves Model UN for it's academic and social duality. It is able to bring together a wide variety of perspectives in and out of committee, and is always a great time. Some of Annie's favourite MUN memories have been at HNMUN when her committee failed to reach a resolution, so the Dias held a "funeral" for human rights in committee, and when she was working at QNMUN and she and her friends put on an impromptu rendition of the Hamilton Cabinet Battles at a delegate luncheon. Besides her love for MUN, Annie is passionate about traveling, is an amateur golfer, and dreams of opening a restaurant one day. Annie is thrilled to be in charge of planning events for QMUNi 2019 and can't wait to ensure every delegate makes some of their own unforgettable memories!
